Machinery Market Report April 2005

By Graham Eccles, Principal, QMAS.

The used Agricultural Machinery Market has remained steady in spite of the drier conditions - as was evident at the Machinery Auction held at our Dalby premises on the 18th March.

The auction was conducted on behalf of Mr Paul Stevens whos had sold his property at St George. Mr Stevens made the decision to relocate all of this equipment to our Dalby premises for several reasons including: making the sale more easily accessable to the public, a higher-populated area to draw from and access to all facilities including the internet.

We offered the majority of Mr Stevens’ equipment via the traditional method and offered several of his major items via an Online Auction on www.AuctionCentre.com.au.

Some of the major items sold online included:

*Cat D7H Dozer for $174,900 incl GST

*AFM 3041 Scarichisel for $30,800 incl GST, and

*Connor Shea TWP Offsets for $12,100 incl GST.

The sale in general was well attended. As some of the major items were offered over the internet, this allowed interstate and remote buyers to have easy access to this auction, allowing them to compete with those who attended the sale on an even footing.

I believe that there will be a continual trend for buyers to use the internet where possible when purchasing major items as the time to set-up and bid is minimal by comparison to travelling great distances to attend an auction in this day-in-age where time is such a valuable commodity.
